Teacher Certification Information

A primary service of the Regional Office of Education is to advise applicants on the proper teacher certification procedure. The Regional Office is up to date on changes in regulations, laws, policies, procedures, and precedents in teacher certification. The certification specialist acts as liaison between the Regional Office of Education and the State Teacher Certification Board for applicants, school districts, and other interested parties. As of 1996 the Regional Office of Education is online with the Illinois State Board of Education and has the ability to issue Temporary Employment Authorizations to individuals who have met the qualifications for a teaching certificate. We also issue substitute certificates and teacher aid approvals.

COMMON FEES AND CHARGES Application for a Teacher Certificate A $30.00 fee is required for all certificate applications including substitute certificates. Registration of a Certificate Registration fee for Teaching Certificates is $25.00 for five years. Registration fee for Substitute Certificates is $20.00 for four years Duplicate Certificate A fee of $8.00 is required for duplicate certificates. Teacher Aide Approval No fee is required for Teacher Aide Approval.
